One little white lie—that's all it took. Now I'm suddenly having to fake-date my work nemesis to get through a week at a Vermont Christmas lodge with my family. The problem? Kelsey always got him back, but not this summer. She won't fall victim to Cade’s pranks, teasing, or manly charms. If only Kelsey's dad hadn’t hired the moron to cowboy for him this summer.

It was just one date. My friend told me I needed more fun in my life, so I reluctantly said yes. Fun wasn’t exactly in my wheelhouse. After watching my own mother’s love life implode time and time again, it’s only natural that I have a few rules to protect myself. Actually, it’s just one rule: avoid relationships with men so I don’t get attached. This guy was just a warm body in a chair. I was here for the basketball game. I was absolutely NOT here for my date. Or the kiss cam. Or the kiss. Or the impromptu evening with the one man who seems bent on throwing my tidy world off of its axis.

I wasn’t supposed to be in Sunset Harbor for more than a weekend. But thanks to—let’s just call it—an unforeseen act of stupidity on my part, I’m here for the whole summer. And for the first time in my life, I’m in a whole lot of trouble. The sentence? Community service paid toward the person I accidentally wronged. The problem? That person happens to be Dax Miller. The guy who always spent more time fighting the law than obeying it. Also, the guy I once told to have a nice life amounting to nothing. So… it’s been fun that I’m court ordered to serve him now.

My best friend’s older brother is back in town. Do I care? Not one bit. Logan may have been my childhood crush, but I’ve always been little Tessa to him. Not to mention, he’s turned into a shallow flirt, and I’m not looking to get played again. What’s the problem, you ask? Thanks to a scheming mutual friend, Logan and I find ourselves embroiled in a bet of absurd proportions. Now, instead of ignoring Logan and keeping my heart safely locked away, we have a date every Saturday night and a kiss looming on the horizon. And the line between us is getting…muddy.
