An author’s agent finds he’s in for an outrageous night when his two national best-selling clients meet - one a mountain of a man, trailer-park red neck, the other a teenage girl who’s written a book on sex, drugs, and debauchery in junior high school.

Christie Lovelace is sent to investigate an anonymous tip linking the death of a nameless woman to allegations of corruption in the small town of Danbury, Texas. Kay Powell, theatrical agent to non-human animals, is babysitting - that is, birdsitting - her client, a parrot named Barney, on the set of his new TV show, Dead City. When the show’s charismatic star is shot in his trailer between scenes, the only eyewitness to the crime is - you guessed it - Barney.

Bud has hired a publicity man to advance Costello's career. Costello knows a Turkish civilian who hasn't been drafted - his name is Hassan Ben Drafted. The cast does a play titled The Two (Dirty) Bedouins.
