After the climate wars, a floating city was constructed in the Arctic Circle. Once a remarkable feat of mechanical and social engineering, it is now rife with corruption, and the population simmers with unrest. Into this turmoil comes a strange new visitor - a woman accompanied by an orca and a chained polar bear. She disappears into the crowds looking for someone she lost 30 years ago, followed by whispers of a vanished people who could bond with animals. 

Alice wakes up in the Los Angeles Quake Zone in 2025 having no idea how she got there. As her memories slowly return, she finds she's being hunted by several armed groups intent on capturing her alive. At the same time, Este, a survivor of the quakes that destroyed Los Angeles, makes a living as a pathfinder for salvage teams in the city. Este rescues Alice from her pursuers and learns there is something not quite right about her - Alice is convinced it is 2003. 

Battered and broken, Sarkis and the Federation of Outer Planets emerged from the battle from Eire, victorious. However, it quickly becomes clear that they have won the battle, not the war. They know that before long, the Undying Legion will return. No matter how many human lives are sacrificed across the millions of miles of trench lines across the galaxy, the Legion will never break a sweat, will never rest, and will never stay dead. Sarkis, Noa, and their allies come to the conclusion the only way to end the war once and for all is the strike at the heart of the Techno King's Empire.

The year is 2381. The place is Urban Monad 116 of the constellation Chippitts. The population of this one-thousand storey super-structure is 800,000+ and always growing. After two centuries of ruthless, selective breeding, the essence of life is to be blessworthy and to multiply; to afford one's neighbours any type of sexual fulfilment and, above all, to avoid the evil of frustration. But, within this seemingly blissful vertical world there are individuals who feel such perverse desires as a longing for privacy, a wish to descend from the heights, to walk on earth and bask in the sunshine.
