IN October 1967, 26-year-old Mary Sievier set off to ride to India on a 175cc BSA Bantam motorbike. She reached India and then kept going. She rode around the world, taking nine years, making her the first British woman to make the journey alone.In 2021 she sat down with a film-maker and told her story and these eight episodes make up the uncut audio recording from that film. The motorcycle was invented in 1885 when two visionary Germans decided to attach a small internal combustion engine to a bicycle. People began racing motorcycles not long after their introduction. In grueling endurance races, an American company named Harley-Davidson rode to the front of the pack with a thunderous roar.
