Folkestone is a wonderful town on the south east coast of Kent. It has, for centuries, been known first as a fishing town, then a resort created by Victorian architects for visitors from far and wide to travel to, to promenade and for over a century, travel to France by sea. The idea was to go see some of the world's rare life forms before they disappeared from the planet, and to do it before the kids themselves would grow up and chart their own paths.

When Susan quit her job in London and set sail off the south coast of England on her beloved sailboat, Isean, she was unaware this spontaneous departure would lead to a three-year journey spanning several countries across the continent.
