児童文学の父であり、日本のアンデルセンと呼ばれる小川未明の童話「眠い町」、「やんま」など全47話を朗読で収録しています。 小川未明と聞いてピントくる人は少ないのではないでしょうか?
小川未明は数多くの作品を残していることから、「日本のアンデルセン」、日本児童文学の父」と称されています。生まれは1882年(明治15年)、新潟県高田(現上越市)。坪内逍遙などから学び、後に逍遥から「未明」の号を授かります。1961年(昭和36年)、享79歳で没。没後は上越市により新人発掘のコンクール、小川未明文学賞が創設されています。

「眠い町」
私はこの少年の名を知らないので仮にケーと名づけておきます。

世界旅行をしているある日、ケーは「眠い町」という名の不思議な町に行きました。 活気がなく、寂然とした町で建物は古びて壊れたままでした。どうして「眠い町」という名がついているかというと、この町を通る旅人は自然と体が疲れて眠くなるからです。 この話が伝わり、旅人はこの町を通ることをおそれるようになりました。

ケーは人々がおそれるこの町に行くことにしました。町に入るとケーも同じく眠くなり、いびきをかいて寝入ってしまいました。
