I’m an unremarkable Pyromancer student; there’s no chance I’m skilled enough at runetracing to graduate—let alone take part in the war against the Silithik. Yet after a surprise attack on the Fifth Academy, I’m the only Pyromancer left alive. Now I’m thrust directly into a Dragon Quintelaide, an elite fighting unit comprising one member of each battle profession.

The Temple of Temptation is broken. The system is failing the priests who serve faithfully, but Zeal isn't missing. He's simply powerless—or was. As more priests believe in our god, the balance of power has been shifting. Temptation is thriving. Miracles are happening. The High Priest is struggling. In his attempts to control me, he's making it almost impossible to help the other gods. Something has to give, and I'm worried it might be me.

After a violent confrontation forces them to flee the capitol, Alyssa and her Quintmates struggle to cope with the fallout. Warrior Jaxon focuses on their path forward, while Frost Mage Arthur contemplates their place in history. Alyssa doesn't know how to feel about her decision to disobey the Archon and whether to blame herself for the events that followed. Despite his outward cavalier attitude, Ryon struggles most of all. The Shadow can't close his eyes at night without seeing the faces of those he's killed.

Dragon Quintelaides aren't meant to be split up—even for just a few days. But that's exactly what the Archon has planned for Alyssa's Quintelaide. Arthur is called back to the capitol to teach others his new self-healing runetracing ability, while Jaxon, Ryon, and Harry travel west to hunt down the scattered remnants of a Silithik hive. Meanwhile, Alyssa and Maze are sent to the south to work on a secret Tinker Guild project: a superweapon that can end the war against the Silithik in the blink of an eye. A superweapon that only Alyssa can control.

After their victory at the Academy, the Ninety-First Quintelaide returns home as heroes. Alyssa’s name is on everyone’s lips: the girl who killed a Silithik Queen. Their discovery of the hive portals—and the tunnels that made them possible—has allowed the Archenon to stop any other sneak attacks before they start. While Arthur heals one of her wounds from battle, the blond Frost Mage suddenly becomes more interested in getting to know Alyssa. It starts with flirty smiles and lingering touches, but soon they can both feel the desire pulsing through the Dragon bond.

Desperate to avoid the Archon's demands—and his inevitable wrath at Alyssa for not sharing her new runetracing ability—Field Marshall Tyronix sends the Ninety-First on a dangerous mission: traveling behind enemy lines to the Daggerscar Canyon, where they must destroy a hive dedicated to producing the Silithik wasps which have been plaguing the western front for the entire war. It's a mission that will bring Alyssa and Harry, the Quint's Ranger, closer together—something he is now eager to do after seeing his three Quintmates have their way with the beautiful Pyromancer.

In Heaven Bound we meet Andrea Turner, the mother of Andrew Turner. After her death, Andrea journals her final words to her son, telling him of her discovery that she is Nephilim (half-human and half-angel). The story goes black to when Andrea meets several college friends who are helping her find her personal spiritual path. When she stumbles on the fact that she has supernatural powers, her reason for being at the college becomes all but coincidental as she learns she devised by a fallen angel and her true father, Dony El.
