Mahatma Gandhi (October 2, 1869-January 30, 1948) was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from British rule. He inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.

Bertrand Russell (May 18, 1872 - February 2, 1970) was born in Monmouthshire into one of the most prominent anti-war aristocractic families in Britain. Russell was a philosopher, logician, mathematician, historian, prominent anti-war activist, and an outspoken opponent of nuclear weapons. In 1950, Russell was awarded the Nobel prize in Literature. The following is a 1959 speech on nuclear disarmament.

Yuri Bezmenov (1939-January 5, 1993), was a Soviet journalist for RIA Novosti and a former KGB informant who defected to Canada. After being assigned to a station in India, Bezmenov eventually grew to love the people and the culture of India. At the same time, he began to resent the KGB-sanctioned repression of intellectuals who dissented from Moscow's policies and he decided to defect to the West. Bezmenov is best remembered for his anti-communist lectures and books published in the 1980s under the alias of Tomas David Schuman.

Father Charles Coughlin (October 25, 1891-October 27, 1979), was a controversial Canadian-American Catholic priest based in Michigan. Calling for monetary reforms, the nationalization of major industries and railroads, and protection of the rights of labor, Coughlin used weekly radio broadcasts to reach a mass audience of up to thirty million listeners during the 1930s. An early supporter of Franklin D. Roosevelt and his New Deal, Coughlin later became a harsh critic. In this recording, Coughlin discusses the concept of "unjust aggressors" both within the United States and abroad.

Marcus Garvey (August 17, 1887-June 10, 1940) was a charismatic Jamaican-born political leader, publisher, journalist, entrepreneur, and orator. He organized the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL) and acted as its president-general. In 1916, he moved to New York City, where his prominence grew. By 1919, he was considered to be the "Black Moses", and he claimed a following of more than two million people.

The honorific Mahātmā (from Sanskrit, meaning great-souled, or venerable), first applied to him in South Africa in 1914, is used worldwide.

Harvey Bernard Milk (May 22, 1930-November 27, 1978), born in Woodmere, NY, was a US Navy veteran, businessman, and Democrat politician who, on November 8, 1977, became the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California, as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. A year later, on November 27, 1978, Milk and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone were assassinated by disgruntled former City Supervisor Dan White in the offices of San Francisco's City Hall. William Guy Carr (June 2, 1895 to October 2, 1959), born in Lancashire, England, and educated in Scotland, was an English-born Canadian naval officer, author and conspiracy theorist. He served during World War I as an English submarine officer and, in World War II, as a naval officer for Canada. Though he first came to notice with books about his military experiences as a submariner, Carr later turned to writing about the American Illuminati, which he alleged to have uncovered. Ezra Weston Loomis Pound (October 30, 1885-November 1, 1972), born in what is now Hailey, Idaho, was a major American figure in the early modernist poetry movement and a fascist collaborator in Italy during World War II. Angered by the carnage of World War I, Pound blamed the war on finance capitalism, which he called "usury". He moved to Italy in 1924 and through the 1930s and 1940s promoted an economic theory known as social credit.

Theodore Roosevelt Jr. (October 27, 1858 - January 6, 1919) was an American politician, statesman, soldier, conservationist, naturalist, historian, and writer who served as the 26th president of the United States from 1901 to 1909. He previously served as the 25th vice president under President William McKinley from March to September 1901 and as the 33rd governor of New York from 1899 to 1900. Assuming the presidency after McKinley's assassination, Roosevelt emerged as a leader of the Republican Party and became a driving force for anti-trust and Progressive policies.

Vladimir Lenin (speaking Russian) was the main theoretician and practical leader of the Blosheviks. He was voted the Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR. Leon Trotsky was a communist theorist, prolific writer, and leader in the 1917 Russian Revolution.
