Yuri Bezmenov (1939-January 5, 1993), was a Soviet journalist for RIA Novosti and a former KGB informant who defected to Canada. After being assigned to a station in India, Bezmenov eventually grew to love the people and the culture of India. At the same time, he began to resent the KGB-sanctioned repression of intellectuals who dissented from Moscow's policies and he decided to defect to the West. Bezmenov is best remembered for his anti-communist lectures and books published in the 1980s under the alias of Tomas David Schuman.

Hear a rare recording from 1939 of Charles A. Lindbergh speaking out against American involvement in Foreign Wars. He states that the Americans should not be asked to fight in foreign countries, but to focus on defense of the United States. Among other things, Lindbergh says: "The doctrine that we must enter the wars of Europe, in order to defend America, will be fatal to our Nation, if we follow it. When men are called upon to fight, and to die, for their country, there must not be even the remotest question of foreign influence involved."

As a 25-year old US Air Mail pilot, Charles Lindbergh emerged from virtual obscurity to instantaneous world fame as the result of his Ortieg Prize-winning solo nonstop flight on May 20 and 21, 1927. Marcus Garvey (August 17, 1887 - June 10, 1940) was a charismatic Jamaican-born political leader, publisher, journalist, entrepreneur, and orator. He organized the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL) and acted as its President-General. In 1916, he moved to New York City where his prominence grew. By 1919, he was considered to be the “Black Moses,” and he claimed a following of over two million people.

William Howard Taft (September 15, 1857-March 8, 1930), born in Cincinnati, Ohio, served as Secretary of War under President Theodore Roosevelt, then was elected on the Republican ticket as the 27th president of the United States from 1909 to 1913, and, later, named the tenth chief justice of the United States from 1921 to 1930. The Checkers speech was made on September 23, 1952, by Sen. Richard Nixon in Los Angeles, six weeks before the 1952 U.S. presidential election, in which he was the Republican nominee for Vice President. Nixon had been accused of improprieties relating to a fund established by his backers to reimburse him for his political expenses. His place was in doubt on the Republican ticket, so he flew to L.A. and delivered an address in which he defended himself, attacked his opponents, and urged the audience to contact the Republican National Committee to tell it whether he should remain on the ticket.

Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin (April 16, 1889 to December 25, 1977), born in London, was an English actor, filmmaker, and composer who rose to fame in the era of silent film. He became a worldwide icon through his screen persona, the Tramp, and is considered one of the film industry's most important figures. His career spanned more than 75 years, from childhood in the Victorian era until a year before his death in 1977.

Robert George Seale (born October 22, 1936) is an African American revolutionary, political activist and author. Seale is widely known for co-founding the Marxist-Leninist and black power political organization the Black Panther Party (originally called the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense) with fellow activist Huey P. Newton to monitor police activities and challenge police brutality in black communities, first in Oakland, California, and later in cities throughout the United States.

Herbert Louis Samuel was a British politician who was the Liberal Party leader from 1931 to 1935. He was the first practicing Jew to serve as a Cabinet minister and to become the leader of a major British political party. In January 1915, Samuel circulated a memorandum, "The Future of Palestine", to his cabinet colleagues, suggesting that Britain should conquer Palestine in order to protect the Suez Canal against foreign powers and for Palestine to become a home for the Jewish people. In this recording, Samuel discusses the necessity for a permanent Jewish state in Palestine.

Jim Garrison (1921-1992) was the District Attorney of Orleans Parish, Louisiana, from 1962 to 1973. He is best known for his investigations into the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Garrison was able to subpoena the Zapruder film from Life magazine. As a result, the American public was able to see the film for the first time. Garrison made the case that the Kennedy assassination was too complex to be carried out by Oswald alone. Later, he was played by Kevin Costner in Oliver Stone's 1991 feature film, JFK.

Amelia Mary Earhart, an American aviation pioneer and author, was born on July 24, 1897. Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She set numerous other aviation records, wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences, and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots. Gloria Marie Steinem (born March 25, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio) is an American journalist, social-political activist, and former CIA operative. Steinem emerged as a nationally recognized leader of second-wave feminism in the United States in the late 1960s and early 1970s—bolstered by a 1969 article Steinem wrote, "After Black Power, Women's Liberation." In 1972, Steinem co-founded Ms. Magazine, aided by her CIA connections, according to the Redstockings feminist organization. The following recording is from 1967.

Frank Forrester Church III (July 25, 1924 to April 7, 1984) was an American Democrat politician and lawyer. Church served as a U.S. Senator from Idaho from 1957 to 1981, and gained national prominence as chairman of the U.S. Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities, from 1975 through 1976, commonly known as the Church Committee, which conducted extensive hearings investigating extra-legal FBI and CIA intelligence-gathering and covert operations. On October 22, 1962, President John F. Kennedy gave a televised address informing the American public that the Soviet Union had installed missiles in Cuba. Kennedy announced a US naval blockade around the island to prevent further delivery of such weapons, essentially declaring that any missile launched from Cuba against the Western Hemisphere would be considered an attack by the Soviet Union, and would prompt a full US retaliatory response. Kennedy demanded the removal of the missiles from Cuba and warned of serious consequences if the Soviets did not comply.
