The sources range from Dr. Sowell’s letters, books, newspaper columns, and articles in both scholarly journals and popular magazines. The topics range from latetalking children to tax cuts for the rich, baseball, race, war, the role of judges, medical care, and the rhetoric of politicians.

Intentionally plural, Southern Cultures, the journal of the Center for the Study of the American South at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, was founded in 1993 to present all sides of the American South, from sorority sisters to Pocahontas, from kudzu to the blues.
