Would you travel the world with a perfect stranger? Fasten your seat belts for an emotional journey filled with humor and adventure. Bachelor and newscaster Pete McCarney buys two plane tickets for a trip around the world with his girlfriend, but they split up shortly before the trip, and he can't get a refund. In a gutsy last-minute move, Pete goes on social media asking for women with his girlfriend's exact name to join him on the trip. Twenty-one women apply, and the ensuing interview process is both awkward and hilarious.

Baan kwijt, vriend kwijt, woning kwijt. Er rest Jo Müller niets anders dan op bijna veertigjarige leeftijd weer bij haar ouders in te trekken. Met een stevige portie optimisme in haar bagage vliegt Jo naar de Highlands. Duncan denkt helaas dat Jo een volleerd hovenier is en hij drijft haar met zijn eisen tot waanzin. Jo, die van beroep eigenlijk kok is, probeert haar tekortkomingen koste wat het kost te verbergen – wat natuurlijk eindigt in chaos.

Job weg, Freund weg, Wohnung weg. Jo Müller bleibt nichts anderes übrig, als mit Ende dreißig noch einmal zu ihren Eltern zu ziehen. Ein Inserat für ein Garten-Praktikum in Schottland kommt da gerade recht. Mit einer guten Portion Zuversicht im Gepäck fliegt Jo in die Highlands. Doch statt grüner Idylle findet sie dort vor allem harte Arbeit und einen hitzigen, wenn auch ziemlich gutaussehenden, Chefgärtner namens Duncan vor.
