Two buffoons, Ed and Harry, are trapped in their tower block apartments following an apocalypse neither of them remembers, knowing only that daylight is deadly and that they must at all times wear totally immersion, body seal suits, and masks, Ed, doesn’t care why there is always food in the fridge. He is quite happy to remain in his apartment and immerse himself in history books. On the other hand, Harry is bored stupid and is determined to trick Ed into leaving their building and trekking across the rubble in search of answers.

Alexia D'Clere didn't ask to be Protector of the Spear, but after her dying mother gave her the tiny metal object and made her promise to keep it safe, she had no choice. Orphaned at age eight, she began to take over the running of her parents' castle with the help of a trusted steward. Yet when a plot to murder her was revealed, a friar whisked her away to live hidden in the forest. There she learned to shoot expertly with a bow and arrow and hone her skills to see into the spirit realm.

Theoretically Trish Mulligan's smashed spaceship's contains everything she needs to survive; maps, food, water and her solar-powered spacesuit. She manages to broadcast a distress signal to Earth, but to survive until they arrive she'll also need to outrun the sunset. If the sun sets, her suit's automated life support system will stop working and she'll die on the moon. So, she'll have to race the sun. On Earth it would be an interminable marathon pace but at least there she wouldn't be alone.
