En una societat futura, enmig del camp, cent dotze nois conviuen en una escola-residència, aïllats de tothom. L’únic món que coneixen és l’escola i els seus voltants. L’únic contacte possible amb l’exterior és el telèfon. Tot està programat: les classes, els àpats, les dutxes, els jocs, la lectura. Els professors són holografies. Però per uns fets casuals uns quants nois descobreixen el funcionament de l’escola, a la vegada, que aconsegueixen entrar en contacte amb un grup de noies d’una escola propera amb qui descobriran el valor de l’amistat i de l’amor.
