Nació en Valencia el 29 de enero de 1867, se graduó en derecho en 1888. Vicente Blasco Ibáñez dividió su vida entre la política, la literatura y el amor a las mujeres. Escribía con inusitada rapidez. Quiso que su vida fuera su mejor novela, y lo logró. Fundó el diario El Pueblo en Valencia, fue varias veces diputado a Cortes y se batió en duelo en reiteradas ocasiones. En uno de estos desafíos estuvo a punto de perder la vida, la bala le dio en la hebilla del cinturón, gracias a lo cual se salvó. Tuvo amores tormentosos.
