Named after her beloved tabby Deputy Donut, Emily Westhill's donut shop in small-town Fallingbrook, Wisconsin, is doing so well, she's expanding into catering weddings. When the owner of the clothing shop Dressed to Kill asks Emily to design a donut wall for her reception, she's immediately sweet on the idea and hangs the treats from dowels on the wall, so guests can help themselves. But that night, when the groom ends up on the floor with signs of poisoning, Emily suspects someone has tampered with her treats.

Quando i figli vanno via di casa è un momento difficile, ma lo è anche quello in cui tornano e non vogliono più andarsene. Lo sa bene Elena, che vorrebbe essere ovunque ma non nel suo salotto, trasformato in un ostello della gioventù. Ovunque, certo, tranne che a casa della madre e delle sue due amiche, che in tre fanno più di duecento anni. Eppure è proprio lì che deve andare, perché l’intuito di una giornalista non va mai in vacanza, men che meno quando una giovane donna viene trovata morta accoltellata nell’appartamento al piano di sopra.
