The Apocalypse is the most fun Alex has had in his entire life. He’s having a grand time fighting every challenge the System throws at him—and making up a few of his own along the way. His antics have earned him a few friends…and a hell of a lot more enemies. The Outworlder Families, invading forces from planets long since Initialized by the System, have arrived to 274-50 to loot it of every resource and scrap of power they can get their thieving hands on.

The only link between a series of grisly murders in New York City is that the victims were all born with 12 fingers and 12 toes. These people are known in occult circles as the Nephilim, a forsaken people, descendants of fallen angels. After a break in the case leads to supposedly killed-in-action Marine sniper Anaba Raines, Michael finds the soldier alive and well, but shockingly no longer human. Michael then discovers that he is also a Nephilim, and next on the killer’s list.

The System warned them. The world panicked. Alex prepared. In college for a degree he didn’t care about, the promise of the System creating a world where magic and challenge awaited—even at the risk of death—was the best news Alex possibly could have imagined. Yeah, Alex was ready for a new life. He wasn’t, however, ready for his only friend to shove him through a portal into hell the moment the apocalypse started.
