I’ve always written. Since I was a little girl—I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a story to tell.

I wandered into new worlds, met new people, explored both the fantastical and the ordinary.

I found such beautiful things. Magic. Love. Wonder.

I found the nightmares, too.

The fantastical monsters, yes… but I learned the worst nightmares don’t always have teeth.

Heartbreak. Grief. Sorrow.

Writing gave me a sword.

It taught me that no matter the shape the nightmares take… they can be defeated.
