Amaan Shabir is a British author and poet from Birmingham. His writing is known for its wit, sensuality, lyrical glamour and proud poetic prose. Amaan’s work often aestheticises excess itself, giving love, heartbreak, desire and even ordinary life a larger-than-life scale.
Shabir draws heavily from real life, shaping those experiences into books that blur narrative and poetry, with each carrying the other through an unconventional form.
Extravagance , confidence and defiance frequently colour his voice, while the writing remains psychologically rich beneath its very visible vanity, however he has pointed out in interviews that his everyday life is nowhere near as dramatic as his work might suggest.
Shabir began his public career as a teenager, finding success on Instagram as a fashion brand ambassador and social media influencer. He later moved into writing, publishing Scarred Visions, followed by Unveiled Concealment and Screams of the Mind and Echoes of the Heart. The latter two were subsequently unpublished after Shabir said he felt no personal connection to them and did not consider them his actual work.
He graduated from Birmingham City University in 2026 and works as a secondary school science teacher alongside his writing.
His upcoming novel ‘ Only The Prologue’ is expected to be published in 2027, after a hiatus from writing.
