Anja Lehradt, a passionate bookworm from an early age, taught herself the art of reading at the tender age of 5. Since then, her leisure time is hardly imaginable without the enchantment of fantastic worlds. She draws her inspiration from the works of the greats of the fantasy world: J.R.R. Tolkien, Bernhard Hennen, and J.K. Rowling – the undisputed masters of epic storytelling.
Growing up as a former elite athlete in the GDR, Anja discovered her love for fantasy literature early on. After a long day of training and discipline, she found solace in the realms of magic and dragons. While her peers may have dreamed of becoming astronauts or pop stars, Anja's mind was filled with tales of heroes and their great deeds. In her own universes, it was quite common for a woman to save the world – because why should the fun be reserved exclusively for men?
At the age of seventeen, she ventured into her first timid attempts at writing, even though the protagonists of her stories initially seemed somewhat unfinished. But like any hero, they too had to learn to stand on their own two feet before they could save the world. During her studies at the Freie Universität Berlin and the Fachhochschule für Verwaltung und Technik in Berlin, writing temporarily took a back seat – who would have thought that the world of bureaucratic paragraphs would be less inspiring than that of fire-breathing dragons?
However, the fascination with the struggle between good and evil accompanied Anja through all stages of life. After completing her studies, she found her way to the Berlin police, driven by the desire to make the world a little better and fairer. During her time as a detective chief inspector, she found the necessary balance in the world of her own adventures, and the joy of writing returned. Thus, Otheiá was born! With "Dark Road", "Guiding Light", and "Into the West", she has already published three epic works of her high fantasy cycle, of which "Dark Road" and "Guiding Light" have also conquered the international stage.
Currently, her fourth book, "Laravin", is about to be published, while Anja is diligently working on the translation of "Into the West". Apart from her literary adventures, the former detective chief inspector enjoys the quiet life in a tranquil suburb of Berlin – who would have thought that behind the idyllic scenes of a suburb, such a fantasy genius resides?
