April Patterson Clemens spent her childhood playing in the Texas woods, rescuing butterflies from her swimming pool, wondering about the mysterious objects in her grandparents’ antique shop, and even mining for diamonds in Arkansas. It was perhaps inevitable that she would grow up to tell stories.
And growing up didn’t make life any less interesting. She traveled from New York to Venice Beach in a van with a group of scruffy musicians and an iguana named Gary, lived in a tent village at a Renaissance faire, and once camped in an eccentric millionaire’s backyard in New England.
People, places, and peculiar little details have always found their way into April’s imagination, where they tend to mingle, rearrange themselves, and eventually emerge as stories. Her fiction is filled with mysteries, eccentric characters, unexpected adventures, and worlds both familiar and slightly askew.
April holds a degree in Professional Writing from Champlain College and is also a singer-songwriter, with original music available on Spotify and other streaming platforms. When she’s not performing onstage, writing songs, or dreaming up fictional worlds, she can usually be found with her two husky-shepherd mixes, who are enthusiastic about walkies and anything remotely edible.
An INFJ and lifelong daydreamer, April is most likely curled up somewhere cozy right now, wondering what to write next.
