Avery Lane Maxwell is a keeper and a storyteller. For years he kept front desks in Yellowstone country and in the mountains of Colorado, and he wrote his books at the desk, early, between arrivals, at nine thousand feet.
His novel Still, by Design. follows Elias, a man in recovery who finds his footing at an inn at the foot of a Colorado mountain, and the love that comes back through its door. Still Here. gathers five readings from the house, each with its own song. Come In. It’s Already Warm. is a large illustrated book for the keepers of the world, with hand-drawn maps and the recipes. A companion novel, Good Little Innkeeper, tells how Elias came to the inn.
He reads his work aloud on his podcast, Avery Lane Maxwell.
