Born in rural interior Alaska amidst the endless forests of spruce and birch ringed by mountain vistas but he spent his school years among the endless rolling hills and cornfields of Ohio, dreaming of mountains. From age six he decided he would make a career in the US Marines. At nineteen he enlisted. At twenty he was medically discharged with a permanent limp.
Having no idea what to do since his only plan ended in failure he tried several careers including: 'Chef to the Spies' (he ran the military dining hall at the NSA), owned a computer shop, worked as a carpenter, farmer, actor, lumberjack, voice actor, ambulance driver, network admin, help desk supervisor, Boy Scout leader, IT trainer, radio talk host, youth minister, and was a sergeant in the Alaska Defense Force Coastal Scouts.
He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Alaska Writer’s Guild, is a member of the Military Writer’s Society of America and International Thriller Writers (ITW), and was a regular contributing editor to ITW’s THE BIG THRILL Magazine.
He lives in Anchorage Alaska with his wife and the mighty Yorkshire Terrier, Heimdall the Norse Dog.
