Beth Leeds has been an activist since she was seven years old, when she got a stop sign installed at a dangerous intersection in one day! She has been standing up for the protection of others and of the environment her whole life.
Born in 1941, Beth is a third- generation resident of Laguna Beach, California. She founded the Laguna Beach Historical Society, the Laguna Free Poets, the Laguna Free Clinic, and the Laguna Canyon Conservancy, where she was instrumental in stopping a massive housing development by organizing over 10,000 people on her “Walk to Save the Canyon.” She was also instrumental in stopping the Department of the Interior’s dangerous new oil rigs off the entire coast of California!
Beth is not only a volunteer activist; as a single mom, she also developed a home business so she could be with her two children, Clay and Marielle. Her company, Airlooms, features Beth’s self-developed airbrush technique, applied to T-shirts and other clothing. Beth was featured as an airbrush artist for in-store promotions at JCPenney stores for over eighteen years.
Her business, Greedy Beady, was the original 1960s bead shop in Laguna Beach, and she later opened a second shop in Hollywood on the Sunset Strip. She created antique-style jewelry and invented Love Beads.
Beth had many other creative enterprises throughout her life.
Beth now lives in Hawaii with her daughter, Marielle, and their furry dog friend, Buddy. She is still active in her many pursuits, including creating art, promoting worldwide peace with her white Truce Flags, and supporting Hawaiian music and the culture of the Hawaiian Kingdom. She loves walking on the beach and watching her daughter surf.
“Living in Hawaii is a dream come true. It is an honor for me to live with aloha.”
