Betty Mullaly-Moulton was born and raised in Northern Bay, Conception Bay, NL where she maintains close ties to the North Shore through family and lifelong friendships. Betty holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Memorial University of NL and a Graduate Diploma in Disaster and Emergency Management (DEM) from Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia. Betty dedicated 25 years to her career as a Social Worker and Social Work Manager, followed by 8 years as a Regional Health Emergency Manager. In 2010, she founded DEM-NL Consulting, a company that specializes in disaster and emergency management. Although retired, Betty continues to contribute to special DEM projects. Betty was a dedicated volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross for over 20 years and is currently a volunteer with the Gander Rotary Club. To date, Betty has written and published three books: Gander’s Response to 9/11: A Story of Preparedness, Partnerships, and Philanthropy, and Newfoundland’s Icon Past: Stories, Lore, and Ballads from Conception Bay’s North Shore (Volumes I and II). She is currently working on Volume III of her trilogy, continuing her mission to preserve and share the cultural heritage of Conception Bay’s North Shore and Grates Cove, Trinity Bay. Betty has lived in the Town of Gander since 1985. She is married to David, and they have two adult sons: Joshua (Elizabeth) and Jeremy (Aira).
