Brenda Murphy's most recent books are fact-based historical fiction--Kindling of a Firebrand: Fran Sweeney and the Fight Against Boston's Fascism; When Light Breaks Through: A Salem Witch Trials Story; Becoming Carlotta: A Biographical Novel; and After the Voyage: An Irish American Story. She is also the author of twenty non-fiction books about American literary and cultural figures. Brenda taught for more than thirty years, first at St. Lawrence University and then at The University of Connecticut. She currently lives in Maryland, where she enjoys writing full time.
