Brian S. Leon writes myth-inspired supernatural thrillers where ancient gods collide with the modern world—and morality rarely survives the impact.
His stories follow morally complex heroes caught between divine power and human consequence, blending urban fantasy with high mythological stakes. Drawing on classical mythology and a lifelong fascination with forgotten gods, Leon’s work explores what happens when ancient forces awaken in a world that no longer believes in them.
Leon’s background spans science, storytelling, and exploration. He holds degrees from the University of Miami and San Diego State University, with extensive postgraduate work in evolutionary biology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His academic and popular writing has appeared in publications including The American Journal of Physical Anthropology, Proceedings of the American Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and other journals most people don’t realize exist—let alone read.
Beyond academia, Leon worked as an editor for Marlin and FlyFishing in Salt Waters magazines, where his writing and photography took him across jungles, oceans, and remote coastlines worldwide. He won a Charlie Award from the Florida Magazine Association for Best Editorial, and his photographs have appeared on multiple magazine covers.
Influenced by classical storytellers like Homer and modern masters such as J.R.R. Tolkien, David Morrell, and Jim Butcher, Leon brings a grounded realism to stories of gods, monsters, and the dangerous choices that lie between heroism and survival.
Brian S. Leon lives outside Los Angeles, California. You can follow him on Facebook at The Metis Files.
