I am Calo, born in Lima, Peru, in 1969. I studied engineering, and although I was next to the sciences most of my life, there came a time when I wanted to experiment in literature, and that's how I started writing. It all started with travel diaries while practicing tourism and adventure sports in Peru. Climbing mountains, crossing rivers, visiting archaeological sites, skydiving, running marathons, piloting airplanes, and traveling to the interior of my country and abroad allowed me to live experiences in scenarios and moments that I always tried to make the most of sharing with friends or in an individual way. From my life experiences, I have always tried to find some reflection, teaching, or lesson. That nourished my diaries later, giving way to the motivation to create other stories and share them with the public. The common denominator of my works is that the reader reflects on his life and that it serves as motivation for his personal growth and to achieve the life he wants. Between 2008 and 2014, I published four books in Lima: "Despertando al León del Sur" (Zignos, 2008), "Contigo por el camino, pero sin ti" (Casatomada, 2010), "A bordo de este vagón" (Summa, 2011) and "Cambio de vías" (Mesa Redonda, 2014). In 2020 I decided to continue publishing independently the following books: "Tras tus huellas", "Pedazos de mí", "Solo allá arriba", "Alas vencedoras" and "Cerrando el círculo". During that year, I published the second editions of "Despertando al león del sur" and "Contigo por el camino, pero sin ti". In 2022 I published my most recent book, “Hombre al agua.” It is an autobiographical fiction novel based on my experiences related to recovering integral health (body and mind) through contact with the sea with the practice of swimming in open water. "Hombre al agua" is also my first work to have been translated into English and is available on Amazon under the title "Man overboard!"
