Chip Clay retired from the Mine Safety and Health Administration in 2025 after serving as a Training Instructor in fire protection, mine rescue, and emergency response. He previously worked underground as a coal miner for 24 years and later as a Network Administrator before joining MSHA. Chip serves as a deacon at Coal Marsh Missionary Baptist Church and enjoys woodworking, fishing, traveling with his wife Katrina and their border collie Piper, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. A Chip Off the Old Block is his first book.
