Christy Namondo Menyoli was born in the British Southern Cameroons. Her love of creative writing began in elementary school, when she wrote letters on behalf of her maternal grandmother, Yaya, to family members living in distant lands.
In the early 1990s, she moved to the United States to study English, intending to return to her hometown of Gbeya/Buea, at the foot of Mount Phako/Fako, to teach. Her interest in medical reporting eventually led her to nursing in 2009.
Menyoli holds a B.A. in Mass Communications/Journalism from Mankato State University and an M.S.N. from the University of Illinois Chicago. Today, she is a nurse who provides compassionate care to medically complex patients while continuing her lifelong love of writing.
She lives in Chicagoland, where she writes, reflects, and explores life—one hiking trail at a time.
