A former speechwriter and British diplomat, Claire grew up in East Anglia and after a career that took her to London, Singapore, Madrid and Cairo, she is now based in Hampshire, UK. Since leaving the Foreign Office in 2022, she divides her time between writing and cycling. She often combines the two by blogging about her cycle tours. She's currently on a personal mission to cycle through every European country from end to end. Since 2023, she has ridden the length of France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Ireland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, mostly on her own. Her book, Braver Than You Think, Cycling to Self-Discovery, from Land's End to John O'Groats, tells the story of the journey that started it all.
