Daniel Eiferman, MD, MBA, FACS, is a tenured professor of surgery at the Ohio State University and a nationally recognized acute care surgeon who has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor every year since 2018, an honor awarded to only 7% of physicians nationwide. Dr. Eiferman is known for pairing exceptional clinical skill with a deep commitment to teaching, leadership development, and physician well-being.
Throughout his career, he has earned wide respect for his work in performance improvement, team dynamics, and the nonclinical skills that shape professional satisfaction in medicine. He developed and teaches multiple leadership courses for physicians that focus on communication, feedback, resilience, and psychological safety. His mission is straightforward: to help clinicians become healthier, stronger, and more grounded leaders so they can care for patients and for themselves with confidence and integrity.
Dr. Eiferman is a graduate of Northwestern University (BA), the University of Kentucky College of Medicine (MD), and the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business (MBA). He has received seven faculty teaching awards and delivered more than 100 invited lectures across the country. His work has been featured in peer support forums and professional education programs, where he is recognized for his candor, humor, and practical insights.
He has lived in Columbus, Ohio, since 2009 with his wife, Ilissa, and their three children: Julia, Jeffrey, and Abby. Outside the hospital, he enjoys sports, reading, and time with his family.
