Darcy Ann Smittenaar Thornburg was born in Maryland in 1983. She has two sisters and one brother and married Matthew P. Thornburg, Ph.D., in January of 2015. Later that same year, they moved to the Aiken, South Carolina, area, and from there to Martinez, Georgia, in late 2020.
Darcy and Matt have a daughter, Lessa, named for the weyrwoman in Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern (Darcy’s favorite series of all time), and one cats, Nero. Darcy spends most of her days editing and proofreading court reporters’ transcripts. In her not-so-copious free time, Darcy enjoys knitting, crocheting, and reading, and Darcy and Matt run a tabletop roleplaying game group in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA).
Darcy also harbors a lifelong wish to narrate audiobooks and every once in a while manages to make some progress to that end.
