Dave Agans, corrupted by Mad Magazine, Rocky & Bullwinkle, and Get Smart at an early age, began writing spy spoofs in the sixth grade. He is the author of the musical comedy Hot Buttons, the bestselling rulebook Debugging, the satirical thriller Urban Legion Trilogy, and recently the funny dictionary Rec-League Softball. He wrote the flash fiction noir story The Big Nap, and won the 2018 Bulwer-Lytton Award in the Crime and Detective category.
Dave retired from technical work after a 44-year engineering career designing and debugging numerous electronic hardware and software systems. While still an undergrad at MIT, he developed one of the first home TV games ever produced in volume, and holds several related patents. It was throughout this career that the debugging rules outlined in Debugging (and posted on many cubicle walls) were created and honed. During that time he also managed and played for the Dawgs summer softball team, which inspired the Rec-League Softball dictionary.
