Dave Barter is an author, entrepreneur and obsessive cyclist. In 2010, he sold his first business and spent the next two years researching and writing the seminal road cycling guidebook Great British BikeRides.
His passion for cycling is laid bare in Obsessive Compulsive Cycling Disorder, a worldwide bestseller on Amazon. Dave has contributed numerous articles to Cycle, Cycling Weekly and Cycling Plus, and has appeared on BBC One’s The One Show.
An expert on the life of Tommy Godwin – who held the record for the most miles cycled in a year for over 70 years – Dave set out to resurrect interest in this remarkable endurance feat. Dave has taken part in events including L’Étape du Tour, the Fausto Coppi, the Polka Dot Challenge, three Land’s End to John o’ Groats expeditions, the Tour Divide, and many others.
Dave lives in Devon with his wife, Helen, and their cat, Jan Åge Fjørtoft. His passion for cycling is evident in a basement full of bicycles and an ongoing quest to discover the very best riding the world has to offer. His latest book is Great Scottish Bike Rides.
