Dezi Shepperd is the founder of Pearlway Press, a children's book publisher dedicated to creating stories that support emotional growth and celebrate children exactly as they are.

As a proud neurodivergent author with a background in psychology, Dezi writes picture books and early readers that help children feel seen, understood, and capable. Diagnosed with dyscalculia and ADHD as an adult while working for the New York City Department of Education, she understands firsthand what it feels like when learning doesn't come easily and how powerful the right story can be.

Her growing catalog includes the Bella Beans picture book series, The Whomp Books early readers, and the Frankie Findell Mystery series along with Cassidy and the Mixed-Up Numbers and Emery Jack the Copycat. Cassidy was selected for the UNC Chapel Hill STEMIE Curated Disability & STEM Booklist. Each book is designed to spark meaningful conversations in classrooms, support social-emotional learning goals, and give children the language to understand their feelings and advocate for themselves.

Dezi's mission is simple: to create stories that comfort, guide, and empower young readers especially those who need reassurance that different doesn't mean less.

She visits schools and libraries nationwide, speaking to classrooms, parents, and educators about the courage it takes to thrive in a world not built for every brain.
