Dr. Larry Dwayne Ponder was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. Being that his father was in the U. S. Navy and a minister in the Church of the Nazarene, Larry had many opportunities to live in many parts of the United States as well as Guam and Scotland. He moved back to Texas in 1979 and raised his children in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Ponder is a retired educator and served as a teacher, curriculum specialist, professor, and administrator. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas – Pan American and earned his Master of Education and Doctor of Education from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Larry recognizes that LGBTQ youth are overrepresented among homeless youth and that rejection, often religious-based, is a serious issue. He also notes that as LGBTQ people age, they can find themselves isolated again.
Although he writes for a variety of purposes, many of his books are focused on Christian Living and shedding light upon inconsistencies.
