I am a retired nurse educator presently. As a child I was physically and mentally abused by my father, who was an alcoholic. The abuse ended when I was 18 years old. I met and married my wife in Korea. She has been instrumental in helping me to overcome the PTSD from the abuse. Since I was discharged from the Army I graduated from college with a degree in nursing and worked caring for patients for 35 years. I went back to college at 60 years old and obtained a master's degree in nursing education. I have lived a successful life despite the PTSD from the abuse.
