George Ortega is a quality-of-life researcher and promoter who in 1984 developed Profit-Donation Capitalism as a new capitalist economic system designed to channel product profits to societal needs. Between 2003 and 2006, he produced, wrote, and hosted the world's first television series about human happiness -- The Happiness Show. In November of 2010, Ortega began producing, writing and hosting his 216-episode weekly cable television series Exploring the Illusion of Free Will, and from 2011-16 also co-hosted the weekly Manhattan Neighborhood Network live, call-in television series, Free Will? In 2013 he published the book Exploring the Illusion of Free Will, Second Edition which presents transcripts of the premiere episodes of his White Plains series. In 2014 Ortega retooled the Profit-Donation Capitalism concept as a way to finance the fight against climate change in a book titled Climate Rescue Capitalism. That same year, he also published the scholarly work Free Will: Its Refutation, Societal Cost and Role in Climate Change Denial. More recently Ortega has turned his attention to AI, publishing a 700-page collection of his Reddit posts between June 2023 and June 2026. In September 2026 he began prompting AIs to write complete books, and has been amazed by how intelligently and eloquently they both think and communicate. Another current project is having the Suno AI generate professional-quality renditions of songs he wrote and recorded in the 1970s-90s, and uploading them to his joygoodnesstruth YouTube profile as a playlist. Suno is unbelievable!
A second cousin to renowned composer Burt Bacharach, Ortega lives in his hometown of White Plains, New York.
