I don’t remember exactly when I first started writing; all I know is that as I grew up, I would jot down what came into my head. Most of what I wrote down could be said to be influenced by old TV shows, such as The Twilight Zone, etc. It seems I’ve gravitated to the bizarre side of storytelling. I never intended to share them with others; they were primarily for my enjoyment.
But like most of us, I put aside the writing as the years went by, as life happened. I got married, had children, and a stint in the US Army found me stationed in North Carolina and then West Germany. Those were fascinating years. I saw Berlin and the Wall and experienced life outside of the US bubble.
After being discharged, I attended college and earned two degrees in Radiology. I worked for several years in a hospital environment before having an opportunity to work for a major healthcare device manufacturer. I traveled all over the US, Europe, and Australia. Today, my job is a little less hectic, working for a clinic run by the local children’s hospital in southeastern Virginia. The prospect of having kids as patients was initially daunting, but I found it more rewarding. The pace and scheduling of this position have given me the flexibility to pursue my passion.
