When I was in fourth grade, the library came to our small town in central New Jersey. My best friend and I were the first kids to enter the tiny building. We were so excited, a local newspaper featured pictures of us combing the shelves for the latest Nancy Drew books. To this day, I have always loved books and libraries and believe they continue to influence my life and career.
As a child, I sat at an old Remington typewriter, and created plays, poems, and stories. Writing has always been a way for me to explore new worlds. I’ve written countless professional papers, memoir-themed essays, and have six books in progress.
I am thrilled to announce my debut novel, Liza’s Secrets. It will be available April 2024. This is the first of my Liza Kasner Series, and I am proud of my work. Having a book published is a rite of passage. I began writing it in 2007, and almost twenty years later, can hold it in my hands.
I retired from an academic career and moved to Cape Cod. It is a beautiful setting and full of artists and writers. With the support of a writing group, I wrote, rewrote, and edited my stories. I even had the fortune to collaborate with one of my colleagues on two plays and a children’s book. Working with this group of women has been a fascinating experience, and a labor of love and friendship.
Besides writing, I sing in a local chorus and was a member of the Chatham Band. Playing the glockenspiel and singing are important bonds with the community. I am also a painter and have shown my works in several galleries in Cape Cod. However, my greatest passion is still reading (I’m in three book groups) and writing.
