Jay Swanson grew up fighting ogres in his back yard and dragons on the jungle gym. It turned out no one else could see the grittier details, so he started putting them on paper to make sure no one felt left out. Jay finished writing each book in his first trilogy -the Vitalis Chronicles- while volunteering on the Africa Mercy, a hospital ship based predominantly in Western Africa. Experiences gained while living in Europe and Africa inspired and infused themselves into his work, leading to the creation of the world's first real time fantasy blog: Into the Nanten.
He continued working on Into the Nanten as he traveled the states, eventually writing Shadows of the Highridge as a deeper look into the history and character of Brin Salisir - the main mystery of the Nanten and Marceles' central quest.
Jay grew up in Pullman, WA, and received a Bachelors in French from Eastern Washington University.
