Jim Melvin is the award-winning author of "The Death Wizard Chronicles" and the "Dark Circles" fantasy series. His novels have earned 22 international literary awards between 2024 and 2025, including the 2025 American Fiction Award for Epic Fantasy, multiple Gold and Silver honors from The BookFest and Global Book Awards, the Best Literary Merit Award from the International Firebird Book Awards, and recognition from Killer Nashville and Literary Titan. His work continues to establish him as a rising voice in modern fantasy fiction.
Jim’s latest dark fantasy epic, "The Death Wizard Chronicles," blends action, high-stakes adventure, and deeper themes of sacrifice and transformation. All three volumes are now available. He also writes for younger readers: his teen fantasy trilogy, "Dark Circles," follows a group of kids drawn into a magical world where falling asleep can be deadly. The trilogy—"Do You Believe in Magic?", "Do You Believe in Monsters?", and "Do You Believe in Miracles?"—is perfect for fans of C.S. Lewis, Neil Gaiman, and Brandon Sanderson.
In nonfiction, Jim is the author of “The Adventures of a Florida Boy,” a warm, humorous memoir about his childhood on Tampa Bay, and he served as lead writer for “Eclipse Over Clemson,” the official chronicle of the 2017 total solar eclipse that brought more than 50,000 people to Clemson University.
A former journalist and university communications director, Jim has written thousands of articles and six novels. He now lives in a peaceful valley in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, where he continues to write stories filled with magic, monsters, and myth.
