Jo Chinn writes page-turning stories about the things families hide — and what happens when the truth
comes out.
Before becoming an author, Jo spent thirty years with London’s Metropolitan Police, retiring as a
Superintendent after a career that included command roles during the London riots, the Queen’s
Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics. These days, she prefers putting her characters in difficult
situations rather than dealing with them herself.
Her debut novel, Under the Hickory Tree, was published in June 2025. Her next novel, Blood Never Lies, is a
historical mystery spanning Wales, Patagonia and Liverpool, where a rare blood type unlocks a family
secret buried across generations. It will be published in Spring 2027.
Jo lives in the New Forest with her husband and their German Shepherd, Jessy. When she isn’t writing,
she can usually be found researching family histories, disappearing down historical rabbit holes, or
walking among the trees.
