Joel Cummins is a keyboardist, vocalist and songwriter for the progressive, improvisational rock band Umphrey’s McGee. His career highlights include playing in front of 40,000 people at Bonnaroo in 2014, recording an album at the iconic Abbey Road Studios, and opening every show of his college cover band with the Rolling Stones' “Beast of Burden.” Every. Single. Show. Joel was born and raised in suburban Chicago and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1998 with a degree in music theory. Over the past 30 years, he’s performed more than 3,000 concerts and released 15 albums of original material, mostly with Umphrey’s McGee. Joel has shared the stage with Buddy Guy, Mavis Staples, Huey Lewis, Joshua Redman, John Oates, Skrillex and other legendary musicians. Joel’s many musical influences include a wide variety of artists such as Miles Davis, Claude Debussy & Queen. He’s performed at prestigious venues all over the world, including Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival, Australia’s Byron Bay Bluesfest, and U.S. destinations like Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Music Festival, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre and New York’s Beacon Theatre. Joel enjoys world travel, skiing, yoga, golf, baseball and running. He, his wife Dasha and daughter Willa Quinn make their home in Los Angeles, which means they’re actually there about 10 days a year.
