I write fiction rooted in the landscapes, people, and emotional immensities of southern Africa. My stories are shaped by land, memory, family, love, loss, endurance, and the quiet courage by which ordinary people carry on through difficult times.
Again and again, I find myself drawn to the great places of the south — the stillness of Etosha, the mystery of the Brandberg, the vineyards and mountains of Franschhoek, the old roads of the Cape, and the vast river frontiers beyond the Zambezi. These are landscapes that do not merely form a backdrop to life; they shape character, test loyalties, deepen grief, and reveal love in all its strength and restraint.
So far my books include the African Horizons novels — The Dust and the English Rose, Stars over the Limpopo, and The Franschhoek Promise — as well as the Namib Frontiers Series, including The Silence of Etosha, The White Lady Road, The Kazungula Crossing, The Elephant Road, and The Copper of Itenge. Plus Kunene Fire
Whether I am writing family sagas, frontier novels, or stories of healing and belonging, I try to remain true to the people, places, and emotional truths that inspired them.
I write in memory of my wife, Linda, whose love of Africa still lights the horizon.
