John A. Carollo was born in Turin, Italy and raised in Pennsylvania. A poet and composer, he has crafted a lifelong journey in music. His early musical foundation was shaped by singing in Catholic choirs, leading him to begin composing for piano in 1986.
After earning a master's degree in psychology from San Diego State University, Carollo worked as a mental health counselor in Honolulu before choosing to devote himself entirely to his musical vision.
As the founder of Musica Baudino, his compositions unite rich lyricism, structural depth and emotional clarity. His discography spans over two decades and includes Ampersand (2006), The Transfiguration of Giovanni Baudino (2017), Music from the Ethereal Side of Paradise (2018) and Symphony No. 3 (2019).
His first book, The Unknown Composer, was selected as a finalist for the Atmosphere Book of the Year award. He is also the author of The Composer's Dream, a book of poetry.
Carollo is a member of ASCAP and a lifetime member of the Society of Composers, Inc.
