I have somewhat of an eclectic background, earning my first degree in European History with the intention of eventually becoming a professor, but a corporate job opportunity unexpectedly came my way for quite the pay bump, leading me to shift gears towards accounting.
Of course, in the corporate world, some professional letters after my name couldn't hurt, so I went back to school, passed some annoyingly challenging tests, and worked at a local firm under quite the character to finally earn my CPA license. However, that wasn’t enough for me, and I later added an MBA and another professional license in fraud examination because of a personal interest in catching crooks.
Now, I won't claim to have been the best accountant, yet the work was generally interesting, the pay was bonkers, and seeing how the proverbial sausage was made from inside one of the largest public tech companies in the world was quite an opportunity. But then COVID struck, the world shut down, and I finally took a moment to look around at the life I'd built, only to realize this wasn't what I actually wanted for myself.
Fast forward to the present, and I've left the corporate world behind to write a series that's inspired by the sorts of epic tales I read decades ago, like those of Robert Jordan, Raymond E.
