Dr. Simon’s distinguished career spans over 50 years of scientific research and development in academia, as well as business advancement in industry. He served as a Professor of Science at Mercy College of Ohio, where he taught organic chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology to nursing students. His extensive industry experience includes work in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors. Presently, he is the Chief Scientific Officer at Quantum Micromaterials, a company that develops polymers for carbon capture, optical displays, and electric batteries. Major Accomplishments 1.Invented the sample preparation component of the BD MAX PCR machine, which is widely used for testing Covid-19 and other pathogens in individuals worldwide. 2.Was a member of the scientific teams that developed and commercialized Freedox—a drug for the treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage—and Neurotin, a medication for neuropathic pain. 3.Author or co-author of 54 peer reviewed scientific publications with over 2,200 citations. 4.Inventor or co-inventor on 107 filed patents. 5. Coached four Michigan High School finalists in pole vaulting, two of whom were his sons.
