As an experienced advisor, I have educated 1,000s on the basics of Retirement Decisions regarding their unique situation in a one-on-one environment. Everyone enters this conversation confused and frustrated. I break it down into relatable terminology so they can, in fact, make their own best decisions and be prepared with a level of understanding for when the time comes. To each customer, I thank you, as these years have been both rewarding and gratifying.
But two persistent thoughts that have rolled around in my mind for years, like puzzles that need to be solved, have brought me to where I am today.
One: I am but one man. How can I share this knowledge with the masses that need it so badly when I work with people individually, and over 10,000 persons will turn 65 daily for the next 10 years?
Two: How can I answer the BIG 4 Major Decision questions that arise in the one-on-one sessions, such as when is the best time to Apply for Social Security, Financial planning so the money does not run out, and finally become better informed on Living Trusts for my medical decisions and final wishes?
These are the Big Four Major Questions that arise around the age of 65 and are of the utmost importance and need attention from a credible source so the right decisions can be made.
The first answer came to me quickly: Share my knowledge in easy-to-understand books so everyone can be self-educated at their own speed. The thought was easy. The writing was an exercise in persistence as dedicating the time and effort to an already full day. I began writing the first book, the Medicare book, using my initial client conversation with a potential client, and it flowed naturally. Then, I dug much deeper into Medicare and all its complexities. Upon reading this book, you will soon understand all the pathways one can take.
Once the Medicare Book was launched, I began to tackle these additional book topics one at a time, partnering with like-minded, experienced professionals and colleagues to be my subject matter experts and become part of my resource team.
At this point, we have a series of great self-education material starting with an Overview Book on the 4 Major Decisions to be made when Turning 65 which includes the topics of Medicare, Social Security, Financial Budgeting, and Wills and Trusts knowing that the topics are all intertwined. Additional books drill down on each topic in easy to understand prose so one can be self-educated for when they are ready to talk with an advisor.
