In 1989, Jon wrote a short story to share with his family on Christmas Eve. Ever since, he has made that an annual tradition. Today he has written dozens of Christmas short stories many with intriguing settings drawn from his forty-plus years of experience as a mission/bush pilot in Africa and NGO executive. His goal in writing these stories is to bring to others the same opportunity of sitting around a fireplace on Christmas Eve as a family and indulging in a great story that lifts the spirit and celebrates the season. In reading his stories, don’t be surprised to experience Christmas in such places as Timbuktu, Mali, Actau, Kazakhstan, or the jungles of Congo. Other stories span historical settings from the first Christmas to contemporary times. Today Jon lives with his wife, Anita, in Spokane, Washington where he is still active as the director of the Africa Steward Leader Initiative that provides mentoring and training to indigenous African ministry leaders.
